What this site is

GERBROT is a philosophical writing project about artificial intelligence and the human mind. It brings together essays, reflections, manifestos, and fiction on AI, simulation, labor, ethics, cognition, and the models through which we make sense of reality.

The idea behind the site

A recurring concern throughout GERBROT is how perception gives rise to inner models of the world, and how those models are projected back onto reality. Artificial intelligence matters here because in teaching machines to model the world, we are forced to look again at how we do the same.

A note on authorship

GERBROT is written by Aldous Gerbrot and includes both original writing and AI-assisted writing. That is not separate from the project’s subject; it is part of the philosophical inquiry into intelligence, authorship, and thought.
